A fast-growing California company that produces a popular line of folding patio doors is relocating to North Texas.

Panoramic Doors is moving its headquarters and a manufacturing plant from Oceanside, Calif., to a building in Fort Worth.

The new operation is opening this week at 15050 Frye Road just south of DFW International Airport.

The 11-year-old company will also have a showroom at the new address.

"We looked at a few other locations," CEO Ted Rock said. "But I’m quite familiar with Dallas, having been a part owner in a different company here.

"We think this business is in a perfect location — centrally located in the state and country and with access to people in the business we are in."

The new operation will employ more than 100 people.

Panoramic Doors’ manufactures and sells its patented folding door systems for both residential and commercial uses. Founded by a California entrepreneur, Panoramic Doors has been 60% owned by private equity firm Tower Arch Capital based in Salt Lake City since last year.

Rock joined the company last year and has been CEO since January. He said Panoramic Doors is poised to more than double in size.

"We are going to grow at amazing rates — 50% this year and another 50% next year," Rock said. "This industry is incredibly strong, and the product we sell is incredibly innovative."

The move to North Texas will allow Panoramic Doors to achieve its growth aims, he said. "We are seeing explosive growth, and to do that in California there were obvious limitations," Rock said. "Costs in California are very different than in Texas."

Panoramic Doors plans to keep a sales and service operation in California. The company also has manufacturing facilities in Nevada and North Carolina.

"We are used in custom homebuilding, and we have a very strong presence in retail and commercial," Rock said. "We have sales nationwide."
